On the 11th July over 70 gymnasts in the WAG and MAG sections have competed in the Erongo Regional 1st Qualifying competition.

The highlight of the competition was once again the brilliant performance of Ramona Beukes, the top WAG gymnast not only of the Walvis Bay Gym Club but also of Namibia.  Ramona managed to complete a double pike back summersault.  This is the first time ever in Namibia that this element has been incorporated in any routine and successfully completed. Rukoro warns soccer players of fake agents

WINDHOEK, 15 JUL (NAMPA) - The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Secretary-General, Barry Rukoro, warns local soccer players to be weary of unregistered soccer agents.
Speaking to Nampa Tuesday on enquiry Rukoro urged soccer players interested in furthering their career abroad to only make use of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) registered agents.

TISAN Elite team clinched silver medals at the All Africa Tertiary Games

WINDHOEK, 15 JUL (NAMPA) – The Tertiary Institutes’ Sports Association of Namibia (TISAN)’s Elite team has already clinched two silver medals at the All Africa Games for tertiary institutions, currently underway in Kampala, Uganda.
Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, TISAN president Werner Jeffery said the two silver medals were won by Hans von Lieres in the men’s high jump, and Malisa Amamus in the women’s high jump. Read the rest…

WINDHOEK, 15 JUL (NAMPA) – Top Namibian football referee Mathew Katjimune will officiate at the forthcoming Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Senior Challenge Cup billed for Mpumalanga, South Africa from 19 July to 03 August.

Namibia football referees to officiate in DRC

WINDHOEK, 15 JUL (NAMPA) – Local soccer referees are indeed a force to be reckoned with at continental level, following the appointment of four Namibian referees to officiate in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) next month.
National Referees Committee (NRC) chairman Edwardth Ndjadila told Nampa on Tuesday that four local referees have been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate at the Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) CAF Champions League match scheduled for 03 August in Lubumbashi, DRC. Namibia prepares for international volleyball friendlies

WINDHOEK, 14 JUL (NAMPA) – The Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) on Saturday selected two national training teams in preparation for envisaged international friendly matches against neighbouring countries.

Saintfiet hopes to make Namibia qualify for FIFA 2010 World Cup

WINDHOEK, 14 JUL (NAMPA) – Namibia’s new national senior soccer team coach Tom Saintfiet hopes to ensure that they qualify for the International Federation of Football Associations’ (FIFA) 2010 World Cup in neighbouring South Africa.

WINDHOEK, 14 JUL (NAMPA) – Brave Warriors’ coach Tom Saintfiet kicks off with preparations for the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Senior Challenge Cup scheduled for Mpumalanga, South Africa from 19 July to 03 August.

Marathon runner Naigambo struck by flu

WINDHOEK, 14 JUL (NAMPA) – One of Namibia’s two marathon runners’ training programme for the Summer Olympic Games in China next month has been interrupted due to a mild flu and low iron supply in her blood.
A visibly sick Beata Naigambo told Nampa on Friday that she picked up the flu on her return from training in South Africa last week, where she did speed training with coach and fellow runner Tobias Hiskia for one week. Read the rest…
